The artist:

Michael Beutler (1976 Oldenburg, Germany) lives and works in Berlin. Renowned for his monumental and site-specific installations, which radically transform the perception of architectural and social spaces through the use of poor or industrial materials, Beutler is distinguished by an approach based on process and collective participation. He designs and builds project-specific hand tools and machinery to work the materials on site. Michael Beutler has exhibited in prestigious international museums and institutions, such as the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, Nottingham Contemporary, and the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, and has participated in the Venice, Berlin, and Gwanju biennales, among others.
