Luca Trevisani (1979 Verona, Italy) lives and works between Milan and Berlin.
Trevisani’s work explores the unstable territories where sculpture abandons the rigidity of stone to become a biological, chemical, and temporal process. Rather than imposing a fixed form on matter, his research yields to its continuous flow of metamorphosis, decay, and regeneration. By orchestrating poetic collisions between organic elements and artificial constructs, Trevisani transforms the sculptural act into a philosophical reflection on the porosity of bodies, demonstrating that nature and culture are not separate realms, but a single ecosystem in permanent transition.
The most recent and radical synthesis of this methodology is the project Kotikeye, winner of the 13th edition of the Italian Council. Drawing from the study of prehistoric footprints preserved in the Toirano Caves, the artist developed a series of porous ceramic sculptures that investigate interspecies alliances between humans and animals, as well as the very concept of domestication. Through a series of itinerant performative banquets, these works function as genuine relational and sensory devices, inviting the shared act of consumption to restore touch to its role as a primal language.
Luca Trevisani’s work has been exhibited in numerous international institutions. Among his recent exhibitions and projects, a standout is the solo show Kotikeye at the Casa Museo Jorn in Albissola Marina, preceded by performative presentations at FRAC Corsica, the Académie Internationale de la Céramique in Geneva, the National Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb, and Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, prior to entering the permanent collection of the Museo Madre in Naples. His research has also been presented by, among others, the Museo del Novecento in Milan, MACRO and MAXXI in Rome, Museion in Bolzano, GAM in Turin, and the Venice Architecture Biennale.
